After School Tutoring is offered Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. in Room 214
There will be no supervision in the Commons on Wednesday the 22nd. All students must leave the main building directly after dismissal.
Senators show kindness by helping others. When people are having a bad day, a simple act of kindness can make them feel better and improve their day. This week, if you see someone who is sad or in need, ask them if they are okay and offer your assistance. Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors who return the parent signed permission slip will be dismissed immediately after testing that day – around 11:45 a.m. All students are welcome to stay and eat lunch and stay at SHS that afternoon. Buses will run at the Wednesday 2:17 dismissal time for those who stay.
Seniors who return the parent signed permission slip will not attend school on the 22nd, as they will participate in a college, work, service/volunteer, field trip, or job shadow day. Additionally, seniors will be dismissed 30 minutes early on the 21st as we prep the other grades for the Mock Test.

Attention artists and graphic designers: The SHS PTO is looking for a new logo, and any SHS student can submit a drawing or graphic that represents parents, teachers and our school. Use your imagination and submit your design by October 27th. Think of this logo as one that could go on letterhead or on a tablecloth or poster. Submit your design to Mrs. Dorr or Dr. Leardi, and see either of them if you have questions. If your design is chosen, you will receive $75 in gift cards and a framed copy of your design.
Mr. Kramer will be taking a group on campus tours of both University of Missouri St. Louis and SIU-Edwardsville on November 4th. Students will miss the whole day and leave at 7 AM. More info can be found on canvas announcements. This trip is for juniors and seniors only. Permission slips are in the Guidance office and due back to Mr. Kramer by October 20th.
Attention students: The Volleyball Team will play Glenwood here at SHS on 10/21 for the final home game of the season. Students will be able to get into this game for free. The Freshman play at 5:00 pm, the Sophomores play at 6:00 pm, and the Varsity team will play at 7:00 pm. Come out and cheer them on!

The Springfield High School Girls Tennis Team placed fourth at Sectionals this past weekend. The team was represented by Hayden Thongsithavong and Zoey Thongsithavong at singles and the teams of Valentina Osgood/Madisyn Williams and Anvi Agarwal/Asmi Agarwal at doubles. The doubles team of Valentina Osgood/Madisyn Williams narrowly missed qualifying for State, while Hayden Thongsithavong, Zoey Thongsithavong and the team of Anvi Agarwal/Asmi Agarwal claimed additional victories. Congratulations on a strong showing at Sectionals and a great season!
The boys and girls cross country teams competed in the CS8 meet on Saturday which also served as the City championship as well. The girls team finished in 6th place in the CS8 and 2nd place in City. The top finisher for SHS was Sophia Llosa in 23rd place in the CS8 and 4th place in city. The boys team finished in a very close 2nd place in the CS8 and were crowned the city champions. The boys had 4 athletes earn all conference honors. Alex Ratz in 5th place, Ben Walden in 8th place, Collin Nolte in 9th place and DJ Peeler in 10th place. Alex Ratz was also the City champion! The teams next compete on Saturday at the IHSA Regionals in Taylorville. Congratulations to all of the team on a great day Saturday!
The girls swimming and diving team competed in the Edwardsville Invite on Saturday. Chloe scheffler placed 12th out of 88 swimmers in the 50 freestyle, she also placed 5th in the 50 backstroke. The relay team of Natasha O’Brien, Lila Martin, Abby Myers and Chloe Scheffler placed 7th in the 100 free relay. Bella Petrine placed third in diving and Tess O’Brien finished third.
Come out and cheer on the swimming and diving team tomorrow night at 6:45 at Eisenhower pool for the city swim meet and senior night!
We look forward to seeing our students and staff at our home football games! We look forward to seeing our students and staff at our home football games! But, we want to remind you of the code of conduct. The Code of Conduct and the guidelines of the student
handbook apply to all students while on District 186 property, adjacent property or engaged in
school-sponsored activities. Any misconduct before, during or after the game will be handled by
the administration at the student’s school and will result in consequences.
Please note that students who are suspended and/or expelled are not permitted to attend
school events, including games. If a suspended or expelled student purchases a ticket and is
admitted by mistake, they will be required to leave, and no refunds will be issued.
All spectators are expected to remain seated during games. Anyone found standing or roaming
for an extended period of time will be asked to sit in the stands, failure to comply will result in
being removed from the stadium.
Also failing to abide by the football stadium expectations may result in you being escorted from
the stadium. If you are escorted from the stadium you will not be allowed to return to future
games.
No unaccompanied minors will be allowed entry into games. All K-8th grade students should be
with an adult who is responsible for their actions and monitors their movement during the
games. They should be sitting watching the games and limit walking around unless using the
restroom or visiting the concession stand. Students can not attend without an adult - they will
not be allowed entry.
Football games will conclude around 9:15 p.m., announcements will be made for students to
call for their ride at the start of 4th quarter at every game. Please make sure your ride, if
needed, is at the stadium to pick you up at that time.
We want to cheer on our teams, have great District 186 spirit and have a good time. Thank you
for assisting the Administration and the Springfield Police Department in this manner.
