• Good morning, Springfield High! Today is Monday, March 23

  • Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays the  Peace Room is  open and available to students for support in the Guidance Office-8:30-9am and 11:30-2pm.  

  • Tutoring is available for all students.  Normal tutoring on Tuesdays and Thursdays continues from 3:30-4:30 in room 160.  In addition, tutoring is also now available on Wednesdays from 2:30-3:30 in room 114.

  • Plant Club will meet on Tuesday from 3:20-4:00 in Ms. Reinders room, 516.  Join us if you can, everyone is welcome.

  • The Springfield Public Schools’ Board of Education invites interested incoming high school seniors (current juniors)  to apply to become the 2026-2027 Student Representative to the Board of Education. One incoming senior will be chosen to serve as the Student Representative during the upcoming school year. Additional information and the application can be found at: https://forms.gle/Kh1aKBbeoE7gvwXi8. The submission deadline is 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026. 

  • The Springfield softball team picked up 4 wins over Spring break, to start the season 4 and 0. Freshman Eve McCorkle is off to a hot start in the pitching circle, going 3 and 0 while striking out 40 batters over 21 innings. In game 2 vs. New Berlin, Milan Robinson hit a triple to drive in 2 runs and take a commanding lead. In Saturday's win, both Erin Stoops and Lanie Dumoncauex picked up extra base hits that included multiple RBI's. 

  • In the JV game, Avarie Chen notched multiple strikeouts as pitcher, and Vanessa Kelley picked up a double at the plate. Good Start ladies!

  • The baseball team got off to a good start to their season with a 14-nothing shutout last Thursday against Southeast. They played another strong competitive game Saturday against area power Litchfield, but came up short in a 7 to 6 loss in 8 innings after coming  all the way back from a 5-oh deficit in the fifth to tie and take the lead going into the 7th. Highlights included a Karter Marks solo homerun and a 2-run single by Brody Scheffler. Solid pitching in both games was provided by Scheffler and brother Jacob, along with scoreless innings posted by Caiden Bietsch, Marks, and Carter Beck. The offense was paced by 4 hits from Liam Watts and 3 apiece from Jackson Jenkins and Jacob Scheffler. Next up is a 4:30 home contest today at Robin Roberts Stadium at 4:30.

  • Congratulations to the Scholastic Bowl team on their brilliant season, which ended Sat at State. Proud of your positivity, sportsmanship, and perseverance.

  • The boys track and field team competed in two meets over spring break.  On Saturday March 14th, the boys competed at the Rantoul indoor meet at the University of Illinois.  Top finishers for SHS were: Jamel Battie finished 5th in the 60 meter dash; DJ Peeler finished 7th in the 3200; Trey Sutton finished 3rd in the Shot Put; the 4x200 relay team of Deanthony Brown, Jamel Battie, Jeremiah Brown, and Jesse Awator finished 3rd; the 4x400 relay team of DeAnthony Brown, Jacob Greco, Kai Rinaberger, and Farhan Faizal finished 3rd; and the 4x800 relay team of Clayton Borah, Jake Tolsdorf, Kai Rinaberger, and Farhan Faizal finished 3rd.  

  • On Saturday March 21st, the boys compete at the Mt. Zion Final Qualifier meet.  Top finisher for SHS were: Jamel Battie finished 5th in the 60 Dash, Trey Sutton finished 2nd in the Shot Put, the 4x200 relay team of Deanthony Brown, Declan Brown, Deandre Brown and Jamel Battie finished 3rd; the 4x400 relay team of Deanthony Brown, Farhan Faizal, Jake Tolsdorf and Deandre Brown finished 2nd; and the 4x800 relay team of Clayton Borah, Jake Tolsdorf, Jordan Green and Farhan Faizal finished 1st.  The boys next compete at the Illinois top times invitational on Saturday to conclude the indoor season. 

  • The varsity soccer team defeated Athens 8-0. Zoe Wall scored 3 goals, Kamryn Hoffman added 2 goals while Bridget Lyons, Phoebe Barnes and Ainsley Lambert added a goal. Annabelle Bilyeu, Lucy Ambrose, Meara Seelbach and Simone Dolan provided excellent defense as Lydia Auble earned the shut-out.

  • The JV soccer team defeated Athens 4-0. Megan Foster scored goals and Ann Nwanganga added a goal.Bella Walden and Morgan Leininger earned the shut-out. The backline of Kate Havenar, Amilia Lane, Kelechi Jackson and CeCilia Irwin provided a strong defensive performance.

  • The varsity soccer team defeated Father McGivney 4-1. Kamryn Hoffman scored 3 goals and had an assist. Addie Maddox added a goal and an assist. While Bridget Lyons and  Ainsley Lambert picked up assists. The Senators got another strong defensive performance from Annabelle Bilyeu, Lucy Ambrose, Phoebe Barnes, Simone Dolan, Ainsley Lambert and Bridget Lyons. Lydia Auble was excellent in goal making several outstanding saves.

  • Any Junior or Senior girl interested in or curious about playing Flag Football at UIS for their inaugural season, should come to the main office and pick up an informational flyer.  The flyer contains information about being a college athlete at UIS, as well as a QR code that will link you to the prospective student-athlete form.  Scholarships are available!  Check it out!
