  • Hey readers! This year really has flown by and we are SO excited for our final book club meeting for this year! We will be discussing our final read, Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid, on Thursday, May 21st in Ms Negele’s room 312 until 4:30. Be ready for a wild book discussion, fun summer planning and sad goodbyes. We can't wait to see you all on Thursday! ! :)

  • UIS is hosting its inaugural Flag Football 1 day camp.  Any girls interested should see Mr. Barnes in the main office for more information.

  • Students, this is a reminder that all signs, orange cones and pylons, and caution tape are there to keep everyone safe.  Please do not enter any areas, inside or outside of the building, or out on Monroe or Lewis Streets, that are blocked off.  Again, this is for your safety, as well as for the safety of the workers.

  • Exam exemption forms are available in the guidance and main offices. If you are eligible to exempt any exams, please make sure you pick up the grade level form, then get all signatures and then turn in the form in the guidance office by Thursday, May 21st at 3:30 p.m.

  • To any student who is involved in the Assassins game, this is a reminder that you may not have any activity on school grounds or during school times or anything related to the game during the school day. Please know we are concerned for your safety and need you to make good decisions. Please see Leardi or Adeniji with questions.

  • Any student interested in being a member of the District 186 Show Choir should come to the main office to pick up a flyer and sign up for a time slot with Mr. Barnes.  Time slots for auditions will be available in the choir room at Lanphier High School on 1 of two dates:  5/29 between 6:00 - 8:00 pm or, 5/30 between 10:00 am - 1:00 PM

  • Crochet Club will hold its last meeting of they year this Friday, May 22nd in room 517 until 4:30. Yes, on FRIDAY, not our usual Thursday. There will be snacks!

  • The African American History Museum is looking for interested high school students who can work at the AAHM Camp this summer. Locations and jobs will be discussed upon interview. You can find the application link below

  • Volleyball workouts on Tuesday & Thursday this week. 3:30-5pm

  • FCA will have an end of the year meeting on Thursday night at 6:30 in Ms Smoot’s room! It will be potluck style so bring a dish to share! There will be worship and games as we end the year in faith centered community! Everyone is welcome! Bring a friend and come check it out!

  • Future Football Players! There will be a player/parent meeting on Thursday May 21st @ 6pm in the new commons for anyone interested in playing football next season. 

  • Anyone interested in playing volleyball next season, you can sign up & a pick up a summer schedule on Monday at lunch in the Commons.

  • Any girl interested in joining the swimming and diving team in the fall, there will be a short meeting in Mrs. Myers room (WW4) on Friday at 3:30.  If you are not able to attend, please let Mrs. Myers know.

  • There will be a job fair at Legends, 1350 Lincolnshire BLVD May 30 from 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. They are looking for Hosts, Servers, bussers.

  • Just a reminder to be on time for all final exams next week! Also, there are no early dismissals during final exams as we will not interrupt the testing rooms. Students must stay for the entire exam period. Thank you!

  • The Class of 2028 will be having a candy gram fundraiser this week on Wednesday and Thursday during both lunch shifts in the new commons. You can send a treat and encouraging message to a friend to celebrate finals, the end of the year, or graduation. The candy grams are $2.00 each or 3 for $5.00, cash only

  • The boys track and field team competed at the sectional track meet in Bloomington yesterday and finished a strong 9th place in one of the toughest sectionals in class 3A. The boys competed well all night and advanced 6 entries to the IHSA State track and field meet next week in Charleston, IL. Trey Sutton was a qualifier in the shot put and discus and was the Sectional champion in the discus. Deandre Brown qualified in the 400 meter dash. DeAnthony Brown qualified in the 300 hurdles. The 4x800 relay team of Kai Rinaberger, Farhan Faizal, Clayton Borah and Jake Tolsdorf as well as the 4x400 relay team of DeAnthony Brown, Kai Rinaberger, Jacob Greco and Deandre Brown both advance to the state meet next weekend. Other sectional placers for SHS were Richawn Crawford 8th in the long jump; Isaac Alexander 7th in the high jump; and Alex Ratz 8th in the 3200.  Great job to all the boys for a great season and good luck to our state qualifiers! 

  • The softball season came to an end last night with a valiant effort vs O'Fallon. The girls competed hard all night, made lots of plays and gave it their best shot vs. the higher seeded Panthers. Alivia Rothermich had a big hit in the second inning and Layknn Cook had a big stolen base. Good job ladies.
